Normally HR professionals are known for their good behavior, but sporadically, they can display detrimental behaviors as discussed below:

1.    Displaying Inappropriate Behaviors In HR Functions

•    Making Hasty Decisions In Hiring Process

In the hiring process mistakes are common as sometimes HR professionals make hasty decisions in this process.
Failing to perform a thorough analysis of a job, poor job description and its requirements and not a good team in interview process can lead to unqualified & bad candidates, which can cost more to a company.

•    Not Delivering Proper Information Related To Salary And Other Benefits Related To Employees

HR professionals drop the ball on delivering relevant information about salary, benefits, and other job-related information and this creates confusion among employees.

•    Lack Of Recognition And Rewards

If employees are not rewarded or recognized due to their best performance then it could lead to employee low motivation, satisfaction and performance, which could ultimately negatively affect your organization. Most experienced HR professional criticize a lot in order to get perfect results and also do not appreciate or reward an employee for his/her best performance. So this behavior has a negative impact on the employee.

•    Not Following-Up Properly-Flaws In Performance Management System

HR professionals have many responsibilities at a time and they could easily lose track of complaints, forget to follow-up with interviewees or request of any individual. So this could affect employees and hiring process.

2.    Negativity

Sometimes HR professionals get involved in the negative activities like gossiping and lying.

HR professionals have access to all sensitive information and sometimes they leak all the information by indulging in negative activities, such as chit chats or gossips.

3.    Not a Good Listener

Most HR professionals don’t want to learn the practices of a good listener. As the art of listening is the most important quality an HR professional should possess.

4.    Weak Non-Verbal Communication

Actions speak louder than words but, some HR professionals have habits like not keeping an eye contact while communicating, habitually roll eyes, weak handshake and these habits may let co-workers and clients may think that you are unprofessional, rude, and lack confidence. These flaws in your non-verbal communication habits could be your career killer.

5.    Favoritism

Favoritism is the most common behavior of inexperienced HR Professionals. Considering their relatives or known persons for any new position or promotion and creating biases is a common form of bad behavior. As it is unfair to deserved employees

6.    Inappropriate Joking

Sometimes HR professionals want to create friendly working environment. In a bid to look funny, they make inappropriate jokes, tell funny stories which could hurt the image of the company.

Conclusion

Behavior of HR professionals is everything. As it is said by DR Katherine Brooks (Author of the book “You majored in What?” What mapping your path from chaos to career and Director of Career Services at University of Texas) that: “Your single bad habit is not the reason for your termination from job, but the cumulative effect of bad habits over time can be the reason behind your termination”.

So HR professional should be more self-aware and practice habits that will be of beneficial for you and the company.
