Just so there is no doubt, our view is that when it comes to HR Competencies, if you’re not considering a Framework for all of your HR Function then don’t bother starting at all! Research and experience shows that when organisations adopt a staggered approach to HR competencies then all it does is create tensions and confusion within the HR Function and reduces HR’s credibility with the business!

There are two things you need to consider when looking at HR Competencies:

  • The competencies themselves – we’ve identified 7 core HR Competencies
  • The HR Role Family Framework – we’ve created a skeleton framework with 3 departmental streams and 8 levels
